Welcome to the Tiger Pep Band at DePauw University

We are the Tiger Pep Band at DePauw University, as seen on ESPN and ABC, and hailed as the best pep band in Division III athletics by NCAA officials two years in a row!  Selected as the Official Band for the 2008 SCAC Basketball Tournament in Conway, Arkansas, we're a student-run organization of over 30 liberal arts and music students, faculty, staff, and community members that's been performing for Tiger football and basketball since 1995!

Supporting Our Future

The Tiger Pep Band asks you to please join together in thanking the following people for making our 2006-2007 season possible. Without their generous support from reallocated university resources, Tiger Pep Band would have been in danger of losing its status as the longest continuously active student-run ensemble at DePauw.

When you extend your thanks to these individuals, please also implore them to ensure permanent financial support for the Tiger Pep Band. This year's budget was provided to us on an emergency basis. Tiger Pep Band provides an excellent and unique environment for student growth, leadership, and learning. By voicing your support, you will help future generations of DePauw students enjoy the same educational benefits as we have.

(To learn more about the background of the Tiger Pep Band and the present situation, please scroll down to a letter written by Daniel Reck '03, Director Emeritus of the Tiger Pep Band.)

Remembering Col. Dan Hanna '47/'48

Col. Dan HannaNovember 7, 2008 -- GREENCASTLE, IND -- Col. Daniel H. Hanna, professor emeritus of music education and director emeritus of DePauw Bands, passed away on November 6. A Greencastle native graduated from DePauw with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 1947 and 48, Hanna returned to his alma mater in 1953 after serving in the 624th Army Air Force Band in Hondo, Texas. During his 35-year DePauw tenure, Hanna established many traditions in the DePauw Marching Band and DePauw Pep Band which live on in today’s student-led Tiger Pep Band. He was also a consultant for the Tiger Alumni Bands and Stumblebums, the alumni organization for members of the DePauw Bands.
