Who Are We?

The Tiger Pep Band cheers the Tigers to victory over Wabash College at the annual Monon Bell Game.

Two mostly-sane student directors and conductors lead this crazy and wild group of student, staff, faculty, and community members as they single-handedly bring victory to the Tigers with an astonishing array of both musical and non-musical entertainment alike!  (Well okay, sometimes we let the football and basketball teams help.)

The completely student-run Tiger Pep Band is composed of musicians from both the College of Liberal Arts and the School of Music, while the accompanying Tiger Pep Band Tiger Maniacs include all those fun-loving folks that never learned to play an instrument.  The ensemble and maniacs perform for DePauw University football and basketball games.

The Tiger Pep Band is the official Award-Winning DePauw Fighting Tiger Indoor/Outdoor Professional(?) Cheering Pep Band and Spam Society Revue, Unlimited!!! at DePauw University.  (That's A-WDPFTI/OP?CPB&SSRU!!!@DPU for short.)

Performing at the home football games, every Monon Bell game, and the vast majority of home basketball games, the Tiger Pep Band cheer, scream, yell, support the team, and sometimes even play music.

Tiger Pep Band took its very first ROAD TRIP to support the Tiger Baksetball Teams in the NCAA playffs in 2002. The Tiger Pep Band began annual pilgrimages to every SCAC Basketball Tournament that year.  And in the 2003 season, the Tiger Pep Band will also appeared as an the Official Band of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championships and the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Directed and conducted by two goofy student directors, the Tiger Pep Band performs a highly varied repertoire of classical pep band musical literature, including such great works as The "Hey" Song, Vehicle, In The Mood, Rocky, and (of course) Eye of the Tiger.

Tiger Pep Band & Rose Pep BandSince 2001, the Tiger Pep Band has also been closely affiliated with the Rose Pep Band of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.  During DePauw/Rose contests, the bands perform together in the home stands, and support both teams with their respective fight songs.  In regular season games, members of one band frequently visit the other's performances in support of better competition through friendly cooperation.

Now, alumni of the Tiger Pep Band, DePauw Marching Band, DPU Stumblebums, and other DePauw spirit ensembles have a home, too. Tiger Pep Band Directors emeritus  David Ziemba '03 and Daniel Reck '03 saw a need for an alumni organization, but wanted something unique. Hence, the Tiger Alumni Bands and Stumblebums were created... and it's a real band, too! The alumni band made its very first performance at Old Gold 2004, and has scheduled performances about four times a year. Alongside its collegiate counterpart, the Alumni Tiger Pep Band was also an official band for the 2005-2007 SCAC Basketball Tournaments in Memphis, Tennessee.

We are the Tiger Pep Band.  This is our mission.  (And nothing but victory do we commission.)
