The Management

The officers of the Tiger Pep Band (a.k.a. "The Management") are charged with keeping everything moving like a metronome around here. Together, they form the Executive Council, which provides overall direction to the band. See also: The Ranking and Duties of Officers and Staff

Director

Ashley Myers
Ashley Myers is a junior Computer Science major hailing from Fort Wayne, IN. She has played piano since kindergarten, with a jazz focus since 7th grade. In high school, she picked up mallets in order to participate in marching band and joined the pep band at DePauw to keep some of her skills intact. As a freshman, she became a director and has been fully in control of emails ever since. In addition to being a director of the Tiger Pep Band, she is New Member Educator of Psi Lambda Xi, DePauw's local sorority, an Event Coordinator for Women in Computer Science, DePauw's ACM-W chapter, and is involved in ITAP.

Patrick Meyer

Patrick Meyer is a sophomore Music Education major from Indianapolis, IN. A recent but active member of the band, Patrick has "joined in the revelry," as it were, since the band's first rehearsal of the 2007/2008 school year in September. In the School of Music, he is a member of the University Band, University Orchestra, Chamber Singers, trombone choir, and the free improvisation ensemble. Patrick has been active both on and off stage for multiple years, serving in musical pits, as stage manager and stage crew member for multiple shows, as well as playing the parts of Tiny Tim (Scrooge, 1998), Little Josh (Big, 2000), Garvin (Footloose, 2004), Herald (Cinderella, 2005), Nathan (Guys and Dolls, 2006), and Joseph (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 2007), all at Arsenal Technical High School, in Indianapolis. Patrick's career plans include founding and directing a children's choir, collegiate level conducting, choral or band, founding and directing a professional drum corps, and playing Edna Turnblad in the musical Hairspray on Broadway. 	Melissa Zimmerman Melissa is a junior Religious Studies and Greek double major. She has been playing the flute since the sixth grade. She had wanted to play it for years before that, but had to wait until she was old enough for the band program. Melissa is originally from Greentown, IN. At her high school, she was in the marching, pep, and concert bands. At DePauw, she joined Pep Band on a whim, and got hooked. She is also a volunteer with Tot's Time, a member of Hapkido club, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and a few random other clubs that she can't remember at the moment. After DePauw, Melissa plan to attend seminary then become a United Methodist Pastor.
Conductors
	Kyle Foster Kyle is a junior originally from Walkerton, IN, majoring in Mathematics and Biology. He has been playing tenor saxaphone for the Tiger Pep Band since the begining of his freshman year, and now serves as Condutor as well. Kyle has kept himself busy on campus - he is a Science Research Fellow, president of the DePauw University Competitive Knowledge Squad, Recorder of Sigma Nu Fraternity, and plays bari sax for the University Band. He has also been active in the Jazz Ensemble and in DePauw Theater.

	Hillary Wilson-Yue A more than likely biochemistry major minoring in Russian studies, Hillary happens to hail from a hut on the humid and hinderingly small rock known as Hawaii (no, she doesn't surf or live in a grass shack on the beach). She originally began playing the cornet but was switched to trumpet and happily has had no regrets. In high school she also played flugelhorn periodically for the jazz ensemble. Despite the fact that her high school had no marching band, she was a member of the Hawaii All-State Marching Band in 2005 that went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Dubbed as 'eclectic' and 'totally random', she's also a member of Delta Gamma, a proud owner of a Mac, a worker in Julian's chemistry store room, and training to become an EMT-B. She hopes to go pre-med and maybe become a surgeon one day, but, as she is only a freshman, nothing is set in stone.
Color Guard Director
	Andrea Stathopoulos Andrea is a junior Biology Major / Psychology Minor who cannot read a line of music. Despite this hinderance, she co-directes the brand new Tiger Pep Band Color Guard, choreographing dances and flag routines. In addition to being an active member of the Tiger Pep Band Executive Board (she is also serving as WebTiger), Andrea is also Vice President and Treasurer of Psi Lambda Xi, DePauw's local sorority, and is involved in DePauw Theater, ITAP, and the Honors Scholar Program.
Spirit Leader
	Robert McBlain Robert is a sophomore East Asian Studies Major. He plays mellophone in pep band, sings baritone in chorus, and plays in the Horn Ensemble. He is involved in Sigma Nu, the comedy improv troupe, and The Cauldron. Robert is from Greensburg, IN.
Student Government Representative
	Mary Howard Mary Howard is an economics major, whose family currently lives in Bangkok, Thailand. Mary joined Pep Band as a freshman, and has loved it ever since. She is also involved with Delta Gamma, as the VP Finance. Her favorite hobbies are traveling, reading, hiking, skiing, and keeping in touch with her friends around the world. Mary's favorite thing about pep band are the people in it, and the wonderful sense of Tiger Pride we all share.
Faculty Advisor
	Colonel Valarie Ziegler, Ph.D. Col. Ziegler came to DePauw precisely because she could become involved in student life here. A former president of the DePauw student body once said that "she is very student oriented. Students feel very much at ease with her, and she is very approachable." While Dr. Paré was on sabbatical in the Spring of 2003, Col. Ziegler was the natural choice to step in. Since his return, she has stayed on board to continue advising us. Although she is a religious studies professor, she taught herself saxophone after originally performing on trumpet in the Tiger Pep Band. Col. Ziegler hasn't looked back since. Her dedication in education has earned her an Exemplary Teaching Award from the General Board of Higher Education Ministry of the United Methodist Church. She is a recipient of the prestigious University Professor award. Col. Ziegler has been a prominent member of the Tiger Pep Band since it's formal establishment in 1995, and has earned three Tiger Pep Band Varsity Letters. Distinguished by "her Humanity in Living, her Loyalty in Friendship, her Wisdom in Counsel, and her Inspiration in Leadership," Col. Ziegler was recognized for ten years of service to the band and was awarded the rank and title of Colonel of the Tiger Pep Band in 2005.
Faculty Liaison
	Colonel Craig Paré, D.M.A. Col. Paré is a Faculty Liaison to the School of Music for the Tiger Pep Band. Although he's the Director of University Bands, he is still a percussionist at heart. Occasionally, he's even been known to take up the sticks at the drumset. (We even once caught him playing saxophone at a football game!) Always levelheaded and looking out for the best interests of the Tiger Pep Band, we couldn't ask for anyone better to advise us. For more about Col. Paré, see his faculty biography. Starting in 1993, Col. Paré was charged with directing and conducting the University Band in performance at Tiger Football games. Seeing the need for a better arrangement, Col. Paré took a pivotal role in helping the Tiger Pep Band become an independent student organization in 1995. Col. Paré was Faculty Advisor for the Tiger Pep Band until the 2003-2004 season, when he took sabattical to study the conducting techniques of the nation's prominent wind ensemble conductors. For is important contributions to the band, Col. Paré holds the first-ever issued Tiger Pep Band Varsity Letter. In 2005, distinguished by "his Humanity in Living, his Loyalty in Friendship, his Wisdom in Counsel, and his Inspiration in Leadership," Col. Paré was awarded the rank and title of Colonel of the Tiger Pep Band in recognition of his ten years of service to the band.
	Profesor Veronica Pejril Veronica Pejril is Coordinator of the Music Instructional Technology Center, and teaches courses in music technology at DePauw. Before coming to DePauw, she taught music in classrooms as diverse as inner-city community colleges and kindergarten singing circles. A native Midwesterner, Veronica did her undergrad work at Illinois and her graduate studies at Princeton. She has twin teenage sons, who play percussion and string bass. Veronica has played the glockenspiel with the Tiger Pep Band since Fall 2007.
	Dr. Leslie James
Directors Emeritus
	Daniel Reck '03 Director, 2001-2003 Daniel was graduated in May 2003 with a major in computer science and music minor. He performed on clarinet with the University Band and still composes and arranges music. When he's not back on campus running BIG D or keeping Tyler the Tiger in line, he works on his MSEd degree at Northwestern University, where he works in the student union and new student orientation offices. He plays alto saxophone in the Northwestern University "Wildcat" Marching Band (NUMB) and Northwestern University Basketball Band (NUBB). He is a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Daniel served as Director and Conductor for the Tiger Pep Band for two and a half years, and has been a member since 1999. In that time, he worked closely with then-Director David Ziemba '03 to expand the Tiger Pep Band's involvement in supporting Tiger Athletics. In 2002, Dave and Dan lead the band on the road for the first time for the NCAA Championships. Under Daniel's direction, the Tiger Pep Band was recognized as "the best pep band nationally in Division-III athletics" two years in a row by NCAA Officials. Currently, Daniel is a Director for the Tiger Alumni Bands and Stumblebums.
	Adam K.Hilkert '08 Director, 2005-2008 Adam K. Hilkert earned his Bachelor of Music Arts, with a minor in Theatre, from DePauw University's School of Music in 2008. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, he is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in Wind Conducting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he studies conducting with Dr. Jack Stamp and serves as a graduate assistant to the entire band program. Having served as Director/Conductor of the Tiger Pep Band for three and a half years, he saw the ensemble through many experiences and improvements, which included tripling the band's membership; the formation of the Tiger Color Guard; overseeing four SCAC Basketball Tournaments, where the band served as the official tournament band, (including the inaugural trip to Conway, AR); leading the band in performance as official tournament band in Sweet 16 and Elite 8 competitions; overseeing the band's tenth anniversary celebration; leading the band through it's first recording project; and bringing the band out in several campus involvements, such as the Old Gold Parade, Relay For Life, Art Attack, and a performance at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, among others. Some of his previous conducting involvements include, Conductor/Assistant Music Director of "Children of Eden," Music Director/Conductor of "Hair," Assistant Music Director of "Quilters," and Conductor of Richard Wagner's "Trauersinfonie" in the DePauw University Band's Student Conductors Concert. He has also conducted the DePauw University Symphony Orchestra, the DePauw University Chamber Singers, the DePauw University Chorus, and the DePauw University Flute Choir. He has participated in professional workshops with Allan McMurray, Dr. Thomas Caneva, Rodney Winther, Dr. James Spinazzola and Eugene Corporon. Adam has also studied conducting with Dr. Craig Pare, Orcenith Smith, and Gabriel Crouch, and has recorded with the Keystone Wind Ensemble and the DePauw University Band.
